As a funny side note, I was called "Sir" by more officers at the marathon than ever before! (I actually don't think I've ever been called "Sir" by an officer before)

On a more serious note, running the marathon surrounded by Marines had me thinking a lot about my time in Iraq and all of my friends that were injured or killed over seas. There were times were I really felt like I was on a platoon run in Camp Pendleton again surrounded by a second family. This race was definitely an emotionally powerful event for me.

Good luck in your future races Glenn!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05891267304925353492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2307559878705222621.post-8016060516567203932012-10-30T10:56:17.801-04:002012-10-30T10:56:17.801-04:00Congratulations, David! I'm glad you had an awesome race!

I agreed with your sentiment of running the race for yourself, but I also used the posters of fallen soldiers as motivation to carry on. How humbling was it to have Marines tell you to keep going?

Again - congratulations on finishing and your awesome time!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
