Still Running in India

Well, it's been awhile.  Don't worry.  I'm still here.  My family and I have had some crazy ups and downs recently, and as a result I just haven't been able to maintain running, and blogging about it.  The good news is that I have been running, I just haven't made time for the latter.

Some things have changed with our timeline for heading back to the United States this winter, and I'm not sure if we're going to make it to Washington in time for the 50 km race I planned to run as my first ultramarathon.  I'm still hopeful, but I'm already preparing myself for the news that I won't be able to run it.  A few major details are up in the air at the moment, but I should know more in the next week or so.  I'm really excited to run this particular race with my brother in November; however, the consolation if I don't make it to Seattle by mid-November is that I know I'll be in the U.S. for several months and I'm sure I can find another ultra to run.

I certainly wouldn't call my training since my last blog post stellar, but it's good enough for me.  I've been maintaining around 20-30 miles per week along with two days of intense kickboxing each week (real kickboxing, not cardio kickboxing).  Now that we're nearing our departure date, and my race date, I've decided to return my focus strictly to running.  I've gone back to running 5 days per week, which will get my mileage up in the 30-50 mile range.

On another note, I'm down to around 176 pounds and I'm wearing size 32 jeans.  That hasn't happened since maybe my junior year in high school.  It doesn't seem like I've been training that hard, but I must be doing something right.  Maybe all of the spicy food in India has taught me to limit my portions.  Perhaps that could be the next fad diet.  You can eat whenever and whatever you want, but you have to make everything so spicy it makes you sweat.  Oh, India.

Happy Running!
